"Rain on the Radar, Love in the Air"

The radar called for rain. Not just a drizzle- but an all-day, gray-sky, soaking kind of rain. When you're traveling out of town for an engagement shoot, the unexpected becomes part of the plan. You watch the skies. You refresh the forecast. And you prepare to piovt. So I reached out to C+S, jut to feel the waters- "If it rains, would you be open to embracing it? Really leaning into the romance of it all?"
Their response came in quick and joyful:
"Absolutely."
And in that moment, I knew this was going to be one of those shoots- the kind that stirs your creative soul.

Beaver Creek State Park in Columbiana County, Ohio, nestled in the northeastern part of the state, is truly a hidden gem. It's the kind of place that hushes the noise in your head the second you arrive. Towering trees in shades of deep emerald and olive swayed in the wind like nature gently breathing. The river rushes and gurgles over smooth stone beds, whispering a song only nature knows. Moss blankets ancient rocks like quiet history. Birds call overhead, frogs croak from somewhere unseen, and the wind hums through the leaves- reminding you to breathe.

C+S arrived hand in hand, radiating that unmistakable blend of nervous excitement and comfort only found between two people wildly in love. As we began shooting, the clouds held back-just enough light peeked through to give us that soft, diffused glow that only a pre-storm sky can offer.
We wandered down hidden trails, following the flow of the creek. They splashed playfully on the water, unbothered by the slow drizzle that began to fall. their laughter echoed off the trees. She twirled in his arms, and he looked at her like she was the only thing in the enitre forest that mattered. It was raw. Unscripted. Unfiltered love.

In one particularly still pocket of the woods, they paused. Surrounded by lush greenery and the hush of falling rain, they leaned in-foreheads touching. Time seemed to pause as the shutter clicked. That image lives in my memory: damp hair, quiet smiles, and two souls so visibly intertwined it nearly made my heart ache in the best way.

We captured kisses under a canopy of trees, bare feet tangled in grass, and the kind of laughter that comes from the heart. There was no need for posed prompts. They simply were. Wild. Free. Beautifully in sync.
Beaver Creek State Park isn't just for backdrop- it's a living part of the story. Along the river, remnants of history still peek out-stone structures and weathered trails that whisper of simpler times. And it cradled this shoot in its arms like it had been waiting for them all along.
I left Ohio with a full memory card and a heart completely full.
Thank you, C+S, for your trust. For you authenticity. For the way you leaned into the rain, into each other, and into the moment. Capturing your love was not just a job- it was a joy. And I'll relive that day, frame by frame, for a long time to come.
If you're a couple looking for a shoot full of soul, or a photographer searching for a place that breathes inspiration- put Beaver Creek State Park on your list. Sometimes, the skies threaten rain, but they give a gentle drizzle- just enough to bring the magic to life.
